Summary
Michele Biondi is an Italian graphic designer based in Toronto, Canada. He attended the MFA in Communication and Design for Publishing at ISIA Urbino (Urbino, Italy). His thesis, Casella. Una famiglia di fotografi fabrianesi, explored the legacy of the most renowned photography studio in Fabriano (Ditta Sante Casella & Figli), through archival research and interviews, highlighting its role in documenting the cultural and social evolution of the city throughout the 20th century.

His graphic design practice focuses on various fields, including publishing, corporate and brand identity, exhibition design, photography, and visual communication across both print and digital media.

His personal research explores the book’s potential as an object, using the archive as a medium to investigate the memory of urban spaces—seen not only as physical sites of gathering but also as repositories of stories, traditions, experiences, and shared identities. He has a keen interest in the contemporary publishing scene, with particular attention to photobooks.

He currently collaborates with Fondazione Garuzzo (Turin, Italy) and the biotech company Diatech Pharmacogenetics (Jesi, Italy). In the past, he has collaborated with design studios such as CABINET (Milan, Italy), Tonidigrigio (Jesi, Italy), and ZUP Design (Perugia, Italy), apparel brands like Moncler Group, and cultural institutions including Xi’An Art Museum (Xi’An, China), China Academy of Art (Hangzhou, China) and Fondazione Migliori (Bologna, Italy).

His work has been exhibited in museums and at fairs such as Triennale Milano, Polycopies (Bateau Concorde Atlantique, Paris, France), SPRINT – Independent Publishers & Artists’ Books Salon (Regina Giovanna, Milan, Italy), Fauss Fest (Turin, Italy), and BYOB – Bring Your Own Book (Enter Enter, Amsterdam, Netherlands).

He is authorized to work in Canada under a valid work permit.
